No-Sugar Month

Thirty days without added sugar. Whole fruit is fine. Sauces will betray you.

30 daysOne check-in a daySolo or with a group

No added sugar for 30 days. Fruit in its original packaging is fine; the sugar someone poured into your bread, ketchup, and "healthy" granola is not. That distinction is the whole challenge.

The first week is mostly discovering how many foods have sugar in them. The second week is mostly being annoyed about it. Somewhere after that, food starts tasting like food again, and the afternoon crash you thought was normal quietly disappears.

The rules

  • No added sugar for 30 days: desserts, candy, soda, and sweetened drinks are out.
  • Whole fruit is fine. Fruit juice is a gray zone; most groups count it as sugar.
  • Read labels. Sauces, breads, dressings, and yogurts are where sugar hides.
  • Agree on your exceptions before Day 1 and write them into the challenge description.
  • One honest check-in per day: clean day, filled square.

The pre-agreed exceptions rule is what keeps groups from dissolving into courtroom drama on day 12. Honey in tea? Protein bars? Decide together, in writing, before you start.

Why do it with a group

Sugar is social. It shows up at birthdays, meetings, and every checkout counter, and "just one" is the most repeated lie in nutrition. Doing the month with a group turns each refusal from private deprivation into a point on the board.

ChallengeBoard keeps it simple: one tap a day says you stayed clean, and everyone can see the month taking shape. No food logging, no calorie math, no photos of your lunch.

Fair questions

Is fruit really okay?

Yes. The challenge targets added sugar, not sugar that ships inside an apple with its own fiber. If eating too many oranges is your biggest problem this month, you are winning.

What about artificial sweeteners?

Group's choice. Strict versions ban them because they keep the sweet tooth alive; looser versions allow them as a bridge. Decide before Day 1, like everything else.

What happens if I slip?

You leave the square empty and keep going. One missed day in an otherwise solid month is a good month. The board keeps score; it does not hold grudges.
